The “Basketball Inclusive Games” project is a 12-month, non-profit European sports event addressing
limited accessibility and inclusivity in basketball.
By fostering a welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities, the project seeks to empower
participants and create a lasting positive impact on the European sports community.
The proposed solution combines a main event, co-events, and a strategically designed work plan with
three interconnected work packages. The main event is the European Wheelchair Basketball Event,
promoting accessibility by uniting able-bodied and disabled athletes.
This inclusive event is supported by co-events such as referee seminars, coaching seminars, and
volunteer training.

The objectives of the “Basketball Inclusive Games” project are based on a sound needs analysis that
takes into account the specific objectives of the call. The following points demonstrate the alignment
between the project’s objectives and the call’s specific objectives:
- Inclusive sports environment: The project identifies the need for more inclusive sports
opportunities for people with disabilities. The call’s specific objective emphasizes the
importance of social inclusion through sport. The project directly addresses this need by
creating an inclusive sports event that encourages participation from individuals with
disabilities, fostering social integration and promoting an inclusive sports culture. - Skill development and personal growth: The needs analysis recognizes the potential for sports to
contribute to the personal and cognitive development of individuals with disabilities. The
project focuses on establishing training academies and organizing sports activities that cater to
various physical and mental disabilities, aligning with the call’s objective to support individual
growth through sport. - Addressing disparities in access to sports: The project acknowledges the challenges faced by
people with disabilities in accessing sports opportunities. By targeting organizations that work
with people with disabilities and hosting sports competitions specifically designed for
wheelchair athletes, the project aims to bridge this gap and promote equal access to sports,
which aligns with the call’s objective to reduce disparities in access. - Leveraging digital transformation: The call highlights the importance of digital transformation in
the sports sector. The project recognizes the need for a digital platform that facilitates event
organization, communication, and training for individuals with disabilities who often rely on
electronic devices. By developing an inclusive digital platform with referee and wheelchair
basketball coach training modules, the project addresses the call’s objective to incorporate
digital transformation into sports initiatives. - Strengthening European networks: The needs analysis identifies the potential benefits of
stronger networks and partnerships among sports organizations, clubs, and stakeholders across
Europe. The project’s focus on bringing together participants from different European countries
directly aligns with the call’s objective to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange among
European sports entities.
