Max Kindervater, a name synonymous with excellence, who has left an indelible mark on the world of basketball and wheelchair basketball, will be the guest lecturer for the referees’ seminar in Romania. His multifaceted career spans player, coach, referee, and instructor roles, making him a true legend in the sport.

Player Club Level

Max Kindervater’s playing days were nothing short of spectacular. As a player, he achieved the pinnacle of success by becoming the German Champion in 1997. His skills, dedication, and leadership on the court set him apart, leaving an indelible legacy.

University Level

Max’s influence extended beyond club basketball. At the university level, he continued to excel, contributing to the growth of the game. His championship-winning experience served as a valuable asset, inspiring young athletes to reach for the stars.

Senior League Champion

In 2004, Max Kindervater added another feather to his cap by clinching the German Senior League Championship. His tenacity and strategic acumen as a player-coach propelled his team to victory, etching his name in basketball history.

Coach Extraordinaire

Max’s coaching journey is equally impressive. He mentored various teams at club level, including up to the 2nd division (2. Bundesliga). His ability to nurture talent and instill discipline made him a sought-after coach.

But Max’s impact wasn’t limited to club basketball. As the former national coach of the German female YMCA team, he guided them to European glory. His tactical brilliance and motivational prowess inspired the next generation of players.

Referee and Instructor

Referee Par Excellence

Max Kindervater’s referee career began in 1984, and for 22 years, he officiated in the German professional league (1. BBL). His impartiality, knowledge of the rules, and calm demeanor earned him respect from players, coaches, and fans alike.

Referee Instructor and Game Commissioner

Max’s commitment extended beyond the court. Since 2021, he has been a referee instructor in the 1. BBL, sharing his expertise with aspiring officials. Additionally, as a game commissioner, he ensures the smooth conduct of matches, upholding the integrity of the game.

Leadership and Service

Max Kindervater’s leadership transcends boundaries. He served as the head of the Bavarian and South German Referee Board, where his vision shaped referee development. His dedication extended to the German female U20 team, where he served as the team doctor, prioritizing player welfare.

Wheelchair Basketball Champion

Max’s passion for wheelchair basketball is unwavering. Since 1995, he has been an active national referee in the sport. His journey from the 2nd division to the 1st division exemplifies his commitment to inclusivity and equality.

International Referee Legacy

Max’s impact reached global proportions. As an international referee from 2001 to 2021, he officiated at 4 Paralympic Games4 World Championships, and 11 European Championships. His presence ensured fair play and elevated the sport.

Educator and Classifier

Max Kindervater’s contributions extend to education. Since 2019, he has been an international referee instructor, sharing insights with referees worldwide. Additionally, he actively participates as a national classifier, ensuring fair competition.
